Ancient Greek Gods

This is where you can find out more about culture of ancient Greece, about gods ancient Greeks believed in, about powers those gods were managed and about origin of each god. There were times when there was no The One God and people believed in a number of gods they have created themselves. Each god has his peculiar abilities and powers and each god managed one or another power of nature. Existence of goods is typical for every nation at those times when paganism was typical for every single culture.

Ancient Greeks were not an exception from the rule. There was a number of gods and ancient Greeks passionately believed in those gods. There were temples built in honor of each of gods and there were ceremonies of donating for those gods. The donating was performed in order to please a god and make it kinder towards people. Donating was also a way to ask something from god, something like protection, blessing, help or else. There were gods of winds, gods of water, and gods of fecundity and so on and so forth.

In case if people had some problems they went to a temple and performed their donating for god in order to receive his kindness and help. It was common that people recognized troubles in their lives like wrath of gods. In that case they also made their donating asking a god for forgiveness and protection. Fancy that there were biography created for each god people believed in. they were not just some supernatural powers, they were like people – with their own characters and fortunes.

It is rather interesting to find out more about it as it is a great period of history. In those myths about gods and heroes the mood of century is reflected. Each god is an embodiment of some features and powers. So, people provided each god with some abilities that were peculiar only for that god. They also provided every god with peculiar position in their hierarchy. The entire life and being of ancient people were developed around those gods and their actions. So, there is no way for us to forget about it as it is a significant period of our history, history of humanity.

Greek Properly signifies "a share," and as a personification "the deity who åśśigns to every man his fate or his share," or the Fates. In his poems Moira is fate personified, which, at the birth of man, spins out the thread of his future life, follows his steps, and directs the consequences of his actions according to the counsel of the gods.
