Eris The Trojan War

Eris

goddess of strife, threw a golden apple of discord among the other goddesses and said the greatest amongst you gets it. The fight for the golden apple caused a lot of arguing. Finally, Zeus said that Paris, a mortal, would decide between Aphrodite, Athena and Hera to determine who got the golden apple. Paris chose Aphrodite. As his prize, Aphrodite would get Helen of Sparta. However, she was the married queen of Sparta. Aphrodite and some of his men stole her and brought her to Troy.

The Greeks were angry. They declared war on Troy. There was a large battle. Aphrodite wanted to protect Paris so she guided his arrow into Achilles’s heal, his only weak spot, killing him. Devastated by the loss of their greatest warrior, the Greeks retreated. They regrouped to come up with a new plan to destroy Troy. That night, they put a wooden horse in front of the gates of Troy. Inside the wooden horse was an army of solders that were to attack Troy. When the Trojans woke up they took it in as a victory trophy not knowing that it had soldiers in it. That night the solders got out of the wooden horse and, the Greek army that had retreated came back, attacked the city of Troy. The Greeks killed everyone in the city but Helen. They captured her and brought her back to Sparta in victory.
